Why our patios last
Most paver patios fail
for one reason.
Not the paver. The base under it. A thin or poorly compacted base lets Fraser Valley clay move as it saturates, and freeze-thaw lifts whatever is sitting on top. That is when a patio starts to rock, dip, and pool water, usually within a few seasons.
We build the other way around. Excavation to the depth the load calls for, granular base compacted in lifts rather than one dumped layer, and drainage designed in from the first site visit. The same in-house crew does all of it.

A patio is the part of the yard you actually live in, so it has to sit flat and drain. Interlocking concrete pavers give you the widest range of colours and formats for the money. Natural stone and large-format slabs cost more and read differently, and we install both.
The problem. An unused or soggy back yard, or an older patio that has started to rock, dip, and hold water.
The build. Excavated to depth, compacted in lifts, screeded bedding course, pavers set tight and locked with polymeric sand.
Local note. Langley lots run heavy to clay, and the older neighbourhoods off 200 Street and Fraser Highway sit low enough that drainage has to be designed into the patio rather than added afterward.

Excavation and grading
We excavate to the right depth for the load and set the slope so water drains away from the house and off the patio. In Fraser Valley rainfall that is not optional.
Base preparation
Granular base goes down and gets compacted in lifts, not in one dumped layer, then a bedding course is screeded flat. This is the stage cheap installs cut short.
Laying and cutting
Pavers are set to the design pattern with clean cuts around edges, curves, and features. Edge restraints lock the perimeter in place.
Jointing and compaction
We sweep in polymeric sand, compact the surface, and lock the joints so the patio resists weeds, ants, and washout.
Walkthrough and cleanup
We clean the site, walk the finished patio with you, and confirm you are happy before we leave.
