Hardscaping contractor
in Langley, BC.

Paver patios and driveways, retaining walls, and concrete. Built on a compacted base that holds through Fraser Valley winters.

Hardscaping is the hard, built structure of a yard: the patios, driveways, walls, and walkways that carry weight and shape the space. We build all of it on a base that is excavated, compacted, and drained properly, because that is what keeps hardscaping flat and level for years. Owner Nick Bye has run an in-house crew across Langley and the Fraser Valley for over 15 years and 250 completed projects.

Why our hardscaping lasts

Hardscaping fails
from the base up.

Pavers heave, walls lean, and slabs crack for the same reason: the ground under them was not built to hold. Fraser Valley clay moves as it takes on water and freezes, and anything set on a weak base moves with it.

We build the base first, every time. The same in-house crew that excavates and compacts the ground is the crew that lays the pavers, stacks the wall, or pours the slab, so nothing gets handed off half done.

COMPACTED SUB-BASE

Excavated and compacted granular base so the slab sits on solid ground, not soft Fraser Valley clay.

REINFORCED AND JOINTED

Rebar or mesh where the load needs it, and control joints cut to manage cracking instead of fighting it.

IN-HOUSE CREW, NO SUBCONTRACTORS

The crew at the quote is the crew that pours and finishes the concrete, start to finish.

Pavers

Paver patios and driveways.

Interlocking pavers give you a patio or driveway that reads as stone and can be lifted and reset if a single unit ever shifts. Set on a compacted base with proper edge restraint, they stay tight and level.

The problem. Pavers laid on a thin base spread and sink at the edges within a season or two.

The build. A compacted base, edge restraint, and joint sand that lock the pavers in place.

Retaining walls

Retaining walls.

A retaining wall holds a slope, levels a yard, and adds usable space, without leaning or bulging when it is built on the right base with proper drainage behind it.

The problem. A wall with no drainage behind it takes on water pressure and starts to lean or bulge.

The build. A compacted footing, drainage rock and pipe behind the wall, and courses set to hold the load.

Local note. In the Township of Langley, retaining walls over 1.2 metres require engineering. We flag likely permit and engineering requirements at the quote stage.

Concrete

Concrete driveways and flatwork.

Poured concrete gives you a durable, continuous surface for driveways, patios, and walkways, jointed to control cracking and graded to drain away from the home.

The problem. A slab poured on a soft base cracks and settles unevenly no matter how good the finish.

The build. An engineered, reinforced slab on a compacted base, jointed and graded to last.

The track record

Why Langley chooses
Graedyn for hardscaping.

Clients pick a concrete contractor who gets the base and the joints right, then stands behind the pour. Here is what backs that up.

Experience

15+ years and 250+ projects across Langley, Surrey, White Rock, Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, and Coquitlam, on both residential and commercial sites.

Expertise

Every pour starts with proper excavation, a compacted sub-base, reinforcement, and control joints, the steps that stop a slab from settling or cracking through BC freeze-thaw.

Trust

No subcontractors, ever. The same crew is on your site from the quote to the final walkthrough, and we stand behind the pour.

Common questions

Common questions about hardscaping.

Hardscaping is the hard, built part of a landscape: patios, driveways, walkways, retaining walls, steps, and concrete or stone features, as opposed to the lawn and plants.

It depends on the size and type of the project, the site preparation and drainage needed, the materials you choose, and access to the yard. A free on-site quote is the way to get a real number for your project.
Some hardscaping does. A driveway apron that ties into the road usually needs a permit, and in the Township of Langley retaining walls over 1.2 metres require engineering. Requirements differ between the City of Langley and the Township, and we flag likely requirements at the quote stage.
Not when the base is built right. The usual cause of failed hardscaping is an undersized or poorly compacted base, not the pavers or blocks. We excavate to the correct depth and compact the base in lifts, which is what handles the freeze-thaw and clay-soil combination in the Fraser Valley.
